Like propaganda everywhere…you have led aspects of truth mixed in with flawed assertions and assumptions. But I admit your essay does get me thinking in a different way. Let’s start with RFK(jr). His crazy ideas can’t be ignored, including his anti-vax danger. Aren’t you glad you don’t have polio? Thank your doctor and public health for that. Of course we need to get rid of chemicals and the industrial food complex that pushes sugar over nutrition. But has he given one iota of a plan other than removing all regulations and agencies? Do we hate science and experts so much that we don’t believe decades of study? The Dem machine is corrupt. Both parties are owned by kleptocracy. With Trump and his band of criminals, it has been normalized like any banana republic. Most Dems I know are heartbroken and retreating inward. If there is a new path forward, I’d like to see it.
Hi Toni -- as a physician, you are at "ground zero" in seeing both the great benefits of medical technology, and the flaws in a system based primarily on money, where well-intentioned practitioners have to work within the confines of this system. I appreciate that this piece has gotten you thinking a bit outside the box. However, the "hating science" meme is purely propaganda. The issue that never gets raised on mainstream media is who "owns" the science? In other words, how is it determined which university studies get funded and who funds them? Have you watched or listened to RFK, Jr., or are your perceptions "second-hand smoke"? Please listen to his words, and tell me which ideas are "crazy"? Is it crazy to want to uncover corruption that directly impacts our health? Is it crazy to want to make sure real science is done, not paid-for or slanted? Is it crazy to want accountability?
The real issue isn't about Dems or Reps, but about the system that has kept us divided (and conquered). When he launched first his Democratic Party campaign then his independent one, Bobby was standing as an alternative to the battlefield and calling Americans to come together at a new center, where together sane and reverent folks from all sides could hold the system accountable. That campaign was thwarted, mostly by the Dem side. Re the way forward, this is a time of disruption and chaos. Best way forward as I see it is to find out more about MAHA, join and critique it from the inside. Support the measures that really will bring more transparency, and know that the real reason it is coming up against such pushback is because of the financial interests of those who stand to lose. As you've suggested this is indeed a kleptocratic system. ... seems hugely ironic that Donald Blanking Trump is the anti-corruption, anti-censorship standard-bearer. Welcome to upside down world.
Have you had a chance to look at the Pfizer Papers? I would love to get your professional take on the trials, the report -- and the fact that this document was supposed to be sealed for 75 years and only a FOIA lawsuit was able to liberate it from the FDA.
