I'd like to talk with you about your ideas ... especially the show up one that goes beyond "wake up, wise up, grow up." How best to do that - if you are interested. I'm not sure about putting my email here.
You and I met originally through Arnold Patent - I think. :)
Excuse me? All these "reasons" were the product of massive misinformation machine by Russia and Musk.
"Among the reasons voters abandoned the Dems:
• Lack of democratic process in Democratic Party – no debates, and managed media to hide Joe Biden’s enfeeblement and then presenting Kamala as fait accompli.
• Abandonment of America’s working class in favor of divisive identity politics.
• Concession of common sense to the Republicans, as in failure to speak out about “defund the police” and unchecked illegal immigration.
• Heavy-handed COVID lockdown policies that saw many small businesses go under, sending more wealth upward to benefit the billionaire class.
• Censorship of workable treatments for COVID, a misleading propaganda campaign overstating the benefits of the shots, and repression of vaccine injury reports."
We are in a sea of information about overshoot and danger, where, even if many more were in it, there's still the idea that one person’s little activities wouldn’t matter. The radical reduction of consumption and the deprivation on the material level that is demanded, even if everyone knew the danger we are in, would still be hard to sell, so then what?
TO BUILD A COALITION, what I see is that you don’t work on the systems, you work on the people. That would be #1. We are overdue to leave the rugged individualist model, to come into caring about each other as the family of humanity, all interconnected, that science in the last 100 years has confirmed we are. And we need a new idea about ourselves. We're not being punished for primordial sinning but are divine creatures in a divine universe. Just look at the heavens. And look at us. We are the only species not running on instinct, and, when you get that we are so privileged to be the universe’s miracle, really get it, you're on the high road.
Thanks, Sue ...you're on target re people as opposed to institutions. Let's begin by addressing the huge cost in every way possible of that which just about nobody wants -- war. As Eisenhower famously said, when the people of the world take a stand together for peace, their governments will have to give it to them. Yes, there are nefarious forces in the world that need to be mitigated, sometimes by force. But the vast majority of people in the world have no reason to be at war with one another -- we, our children, our planet is collateral damage.
Hi Steve,

Of course I remember you Peggy -- was it 2011 or 2012? Anyway you can send me your email and phone at swamib1@gmail.com ... I'd love to talk with you.
Oh, wonderful Steve! I am sending an email now. I think it must have been 2005 or 2006 as I moved out of Sonoma County in 2007.

• The cancel culture.
• Insanely out-of-touch gender agenda – e.g., “pregnant persons.”
• Concession of common sense to the Republicans, as in failure to speak out about “defund the police” and unchecked illegal immigration.

Here's the comment made just before I read this charmer. It was to a proposal to create a
Degrowth Coalition, a very good idea: https://degrowthistheanswer.substack.com/p/a-degrowth-coalition. Here's what I posted, less charmingly but also to your point:

Work on bringing that about, teach humanity (Brian Swimme is inspirational: https://suzannetaylor.substack.com/s/brian-thomas-swimme), and then, doing the best for the world will be the natural way.
